Care and Maintenance Instructions
Please note that the care instructions detailed below are suggestions only and we are not responsible for any damage incurred whilst cleaning.
Timber Frame Finishes & Lacquered Metal Frames
For regular cleaning, we recommend lightly using a dry, soft cloth or feather duster on the frames. For any finger prints and other marks, try using a clean, water-damp cloth and gently rubbing the area.
Do not use any chemicals, furniture polishes or abrasives on the frames as these will damage the finish.
Lacquer Finishes
For regular cleaning, we recommend lightly using a dry, soft cloth or feather duster on the frames. For any finger prints and other marks, try using a clean, water-damp cloth and gently rubbing the area.
Do not expose the finish to direct sunlight as this will damage the finish over time.
Unlacquered Metal Frames
For regular cleaning, we recommend lightly using a dry, soft cloth or feather duster on the frames. For any finger prints and other marks, try using a clean, water-damp cloth and gently rubbing the area. Once the blemish has gone, dry the frame immediately as leaving any wet on the frame will cause damage.
Mirror & Standard Glass
Clean and polish using any regular preparatory glass cleaner using a clean, soft, lint free cloth. Avoid getting glass cleaner on the frames.
TruVue Anti-reflective Glass
TruVue recommends using a micro-fiber cloth.
Spray a small amount of ammonia-free cleaner onto the cloth. Spraying on the cloth will prevent overspray. Press the cloth against the glass and clean in round, circular motions
Handling & Moving
Whilst our frames and mirrors are made to last, they need to be handled with care. Frames made from timber can dent if knocked and we suggest they are kept in their original protective packaging until they are hung.
Always lift our frames and mirrors with two hands (or two people) to move them. If they are dragged this will damage the frame and finish.
Never lie frames face down on any kind of surface as this can damage the finish.
Patrick Ireland’s expertise and friendly team made the whole design process run smoothly. They produced a high quantity of mirrors in a short period of time and the quality was perfect. We love the fact that they are a family-run business where all the items are made in the UK.

Expert Craftsmanship
Made and finished by hand
We design, make, and finish all our frames in-house at our workshop. Each frame starts life as a plain timber moulding, before being built to the desired size and prepared for its bespoke finish. We prime most finishes with gesso to create a smooth base, giving our frames a seamless, uninterrupted finish, even at the mitred corners.
We finish our frames by hand and offer an impressive number of finishes, including classic waxed timber, high-gloss lacquer, metal leaf and gilded options.
Sustainability
Timber sourced from sustainable forests
In a continued effort to minimise our impact on the environment, we only work timber suppliers who can guarantee that our timber has been produced sustainably.
We also work with Carma to improve our social and environmental impact by planting a tree on your behalf for every new order placed. Carma collaborates with the Green Task Force, which works with veterans and is responsible for planting more than 3 million trees in and around the UK. Track our tree planting here.
Where possible, we use recyclable and recycled packaging materials for our frames and mirrors. The sustainable packaging options have improved over recent years, but we continually strive to improve our packaging and welcome suggestions and product recommendations.
